More about the gallery and photography

My artwork is inspired by the dynamic mountain landscapes and the people within. My goal is to capture these magnificent scenes and show them in immersive print form, in a manner which ignites a personal attachment to that place for the viewer.

The mountains are a place of personal transformation and a window in to one’s true self. They are the ultimate place for unyielding self-honesty and discovery. It is my belief that the dramatic and natural mountain landscapes bring out the best in people, those that strive for excellence and self reflection and growth.

It is my goal through this artwork to create a vivid and immersive window to these magnificent and powerful places.

Wow!!!

I've been watching the light play upon the mountain peaks for the last four hours. My camera is ready. As the sun sinks into the Rockies, subtle changes occur. The shadows grow. The rocks and the trees gain definition. The golden hue of the sky intensifies.

This is what I've been waiting for.

I focus, shoot, and capture this one moment in time. It's perfect. And then it's gone. The sun continues its descent. With every tick of the second hand, the scene fades into the arriving night.

The harmony, that I've felt throughout the day, is joined by the deep satisfaction of finally getting what I came for. All of my scouting trips have paid off. The hike in, with forty pounds of gear on my back, was worth every single step.

As I begin my trek back down the mountain, I turn my headlamp on and ponder the biggest reward of my work. That's the joy that it brings to my clients.

The magic of photography is that it transports you to a perfect time and place. I believe that nature has the power to heal. I come to these mountains to quiet my mind and discover myself. My sincerest hope is that, through my images, I can bring that same beauty and serenity into your home.

Imagine walking past a pristine mountain lake every morning, on your way to the kitchen.

Or gazing over a valley of windflowers, from the comfort of your couch.

Maybe you dream of visiting the Rocky Mountains someday. Or you aspire to live closer to the beauty of nature, when your life finally slows down.

But for now, these places may seem out of reach.

I get it. Those treks up the trail can be tricky, yes. But in the end, bringing all these amazing places directly to you, through my camera lens, makes it all worthwhile.

You might say that I got hooked on photography during a fishing trip.

I grew up as a child in a very chaotic household, in a bustling city. Is it any wonder that I craved peace and quiet? My god-parents knew what I needed. When I was twelve years old, they enlisted me to help on their fishing boat, while my mom recovered in rehabilitation, and gave me my first camera. Miles off of the coast of Vancouver Island, I found the tranquility that I so badly needed. And with my camera, I netted it and brought it home with me.

The Rocky Mountains inspired me to make this a career

In 2003, my love of ice climbing brought me to the Bow Valley region of the Rocky Mountains. Of course, my camera was a constant companion. The phenomenal beauty of the area inspired me to get serious about photography.

You could say that I'm self-taught but my teachers were many. The first of which was simply trial and error. And I could list the authors of all the magazine articles and photography books that I've devoured through the years. But I surely wouldn't recall them all. Here's a pro tip; read the owner's manual for your camera. You won't believe how much it can teach you.

I'm always looking to improve my craft. In 2014, that dedication caught the notice of the Master Photographers International Organization, when they designated me as a Master in Fine Art Photography after submitting a portfolio review.

For the love of printing

My work in printing, and custom framing my own works started to attract attention with other photographers and artists while I was doing shows. So much so, that after many requests for helping them with their own printing, I opened a printing and custom framing shop, in January of 2016, only a few short months prior to having my amazing son Seth. The printing business soon took over, and with a new son, I had to dedicate all of my time to helping others with their own work, and had to put down the camera and step away from photography for an extended time. Yet, demand remained for my personal work, which made its way in to many corporate clients offices while working with them on projects.

After growing my printing and custom framing business, it was growing too fast, started to stall, and then imploded, which caused me to restructure, move locations, and re-focus in the summer of 2019. Little did I know at the time that it was a blessing in disguise, as I now have a 1200 square foot art gallery space to highlight, show and sell my work on a larger scale, while allowing others the same opportunity by inviting select artists into my gallery.
I knew that I loved photography. What I didn't know was how much I would enjoy helping my clients.

It's such an honour to have my work displayed in your homes and corporate offices worldwide. This is why I want to make sure that you get exactly what you need. The hardest part of our working together should be picking which artwork from my gallery.
